Successful Network Marketing Recruiting - Talk WITH people and not AT people.

This is not just a major tip for Network Marketers. If your life involves other people then it's a major tip for success in all those areas as well.

When someone talks at us or tells us what they think we ‘ought’ to do, the fact that we’re being told usually makes us feel our choices in the matter are reduced.  That person may be our parent, teacher, boss – it doesn’t matter.

And what about the salesman who tells us how wonderful, unbelievable and amazing something is and that we'll absolutely love it? Don’t you feel yourself withdrawing from them?

Have you ever had a friend who shared a problem with you? You then give them the perfect solution - and they ignore it!

All of us have an ego and we like to think we’ve formed our own opinions and decisions around something – especially when it’s something important to us. We also know, better than anyone else, what’s the right decision for us, based on what feels comfortable, what we’re prepared to do etc.

Most networking training teaches us to do a presentation of our business. We’re told that if we give the prospect all the wonderful information about our incredible opportunity, they'll just jump at it.  (This, of course, flies in the face of the reality that it’s the person not the facts that influence people.) In many cases, the only qualifying of a prospect’s interest is checking out that they have a credit card!

On the other hand, if you spend time talking with your prospect, identifying whether they have a need in their life and are prepared to put in the time, effort or money to achieve it, then you'll know whether your opportunity or product could possibly be a solution for them.

Only at that stage does it make sense to give them some relevant information about what you do. It shouldn’t be a huge amount, just enough to see if they're interested.

For example, it could be as brief as "I run a nutritional business with products that might be able to help that condition" or “I work for myself from home and make a very good living from it. Perhaps that’s something you might consider.” Then let them tell you what they want to do next and, if they’re interested, they will ask for more information.

If this approach is completely new to you I recommend you look at Michael Oliver's work at his website, http://www.naturalselling.com

A common reaction I get from people who’ve been told to talk to 10 people a day is that they will never have the time to do this.  I agree that for an ordinary person holding down a regular job, it will be difficult to have 10 such conversations a day with new people.  However, 10 is a ridiculously large number for most people.  Speaking with two new people a day would give you amazing results.  See my article on the numbers game.

So, to grow your business more quickly and easily, I recommend you start talking with people and not at them. Find out what they want and what they want to do, so you can see if you might be able to help them.  This way you’re much more likely to get what you want.

Remember - all you need is to consistently do a modest amount of work over time. network marketing recruiting
