Network Marketing, Abundance and the Law of Attraction.

 

Network Marketing is a business vehicle which allows ordinary people to have financial freedom and abundance. It amazes me that there is so much fear of loss and lack in much of the writing about Network Marketing and what’s being practised. The Law of Attraction says that you attract what you feel, so if you feel fear of lack, then that’s the type of person you will attract.

The Law of Attraction has an impact, way before you ever sign up a person. An example is the ‘sales closing technique’ (called ‘the takeaway’) which is taught to many people. It goes something like this. If the person you're speaking with doesn’t make an immediate decision, threaten to take them off your list with some comment about how they will be missing out.

So let’s imagine that someone does respond to the take-away technique. Clearly the primary motivation is fear and lack, rather than abundance. So how productive, happy and successful do you think a group of people will be if they’re focusing on lack, scarcity and fear of loss?

Wouldn’t you prefer a downline of people in your Network Marketing business that focuses on abundance?

Recruiting is about sorting and filtering to find the right kind of people to work with you. Shouldn’t you make sure the filters you're using are the ones that will give you the right people to work with? Try filtering for people with an abundance mindset and see what a difference it makes to who you talk with.

Other examples of loss and fear include marketing materials that say, for example "This is the only time so don't miss out". If there genuinely isn’t going to be a business opportunity in the future, do you really want to be building your business with that company? Or if there always will be an opportunity in the future, then are you comfortable with having to lie about it?

Now imagine you have your new person signed up. You tell them to go talk to everyone they know because if they don't - somebody else will. Again you've guessed, its fear driven - fear of loss. It's starting to programme your new business partner into a mind-set of lack.

We’ve all been encouraged to ‘recruit as many people as you possibly can because, after all, the good ones are rare and you’ll need to recruit lots to find them’. Yes again you've guessed, its lack again and, by the way, it’s also a self-fulfilling prophecy!

I’ve often found that if you treat people how you’d like them to behave, they will rise to that level. If you treat people as if most won't make it - guess what? Most won't! However, if you treat people as capable and competent - guess what? More people in your Network Marketing group will succeed.

So, through your experience you've been programmed with an expectation that most people lack what it takes to succeed in Network Marketing. This is perhaps one of the few things that does duplicate through a Network Marketing group. A downline can quickly take on the attitudes and beliefs of those above them, and that’s both the good and the bad.

You probably need to test these ideas out yourself. May I suggest that over the coming weeks as you deal with the company, your group and other network marketers, you pay attention to what's going on. If you get those feelings inside of loss, inadequacy, jealousy, or fear that it might not work, just notice how often this happens. Do you find it useful to have these uncomfortable or bad feelings? Is that what you wanted from your Network Marketing business?

So, how would you like to feel?

What attitudes and beliefs about your business would benefit you most? Would it be useful to believe that you live in an abundant world where you can find all the right people you need for your downline?

Network Marketing is a business that many present as a ‘feel-good’ business. Do you get many good feelings from the way you're running your Network Marketing business right now?
